Wow...interesting chart. I wonder if the S&P market makers grabbed that page from the history books 7 months ago. :)

For those who were distracted by the "better-than-expected" spin from the folks on Wall Street, let's review the "highlights" of the jobs report:

The third month in a row of job losses, something that has never happened in post-World War II America outside of recessions or national strikes.
Six percent unemployment, the highest for this cycle.
The longest average time without a job (19.6 weeks) since the early 1980s.
The shortest average workweek (34 hours) in recorded history.
The worst job loss in manufacturing in 15 months and the 33rd month in a row of declines, bringing total employment in the sector down to where it was 42 years ago.
