We threw out perfectly good voting machines (used by many other states including Illinois) and spent a small fortune on the fancy dandy voting machines. Truth is machines dont cheat, PEOPLE cheat. I dont know a lot about them (although I have used one in last election) but I understand there are safeguards built into them, however the audit trail is only as good as the AUDITORS who follow them. Back in 2,000 when Bush was elected a local DEMOCRAT congressman was found with TWO of the old machines IN HIS TRUNK. Police ARRESTED HIM but it was SUBSEQUENTLY COVERED UP and in fact he was elected and is now in office. Should be in jail instead. jdn
