I was struck, during the Clinton impeachment stuff, just how different the "Washington" media views and the rest of the country were.

Charlie Rose pressed George last night about his break with Clinton. George claimed that his book about him came out in 99, but the break happened in 98 when he treated Monica as a news story, instead of supporting Clinton. Says he has talked to Hillary at length since then, and has had a "pleasant" exchange with Bill.

He said he decided to go to reporter from pundit three years ago, and ABC let him do it. The hardest part of "This Week" was the bookings, and he now felt he had made the transition to reporter and anchor.
