Right. Well a while back I asked you to consider the philosophical foundations that qualify the move from rising tension to an agressive action (The actual term was unprovoked agression). Christopher posed the example of Iraq and I commented that the example might get in the way because of how people personally feel about it. Then I posed a (bad) example and you commented on how you personally feel about it (parent child relations).

So I'll try again. I think I can be clearer now on the issue. Where there is tension there are opposing sides, and crux that will not go away as long as there is tension. The tension might be dispelled in at least three ways that I can think of. 1) The problem is resolved to the satisfaction of the opposing sides. 2) An event takes place that makes it pointless to remain in opposition even though the sides have not changed their views. 3) While tension is rising one of the sides agresses against the other. This may be a first strike to avoid being the victim of a strike by the opposition. It could be a strike to keep the other side from succeeding at some other strategy that would dispel the tension unfavorably for their opponent.

Notice in the paragraph above I stayed completely away from examples. So do you have any philosphical guidelines regarding number 3 above, which was the point of my question several days ago? What are the philosophical guidelines that justify agression in the rising tension scenario.
