It's .001 added to what's already in the denominator, so it doesn't wind up throwing it off, I don't think. It would only throw it off in cases where the denominator without .001 equaled 0 (or something very close to it).

But in this case, 3.24*Std(C,21)*10 doesn't reach 0 unless the stock becomes worthless (in which case, you've got greater problems).

The program says it's a "divide by 0" problem, but that's just a program with OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) fearing that the worst might happen, that the formula might have to divide by 0, so it's going to wash its hands of it and give an error message).

In any case, the .001 didn't get rid of the error message, EMorrison says.

So I'm going to give up and see what awaits me in the world at large -- new problems, new error messages, no doubt. I'm going to take my .001 with me, just in case I find an application for it. Perhaps I could feed it to the birds.
