Seattle has to be effected by the hit to tech in general ... also aerospace - traditionally here, Boeing engineers retiring to the gulf islands has been a factor ... this on both sides of the border, likely more in the San Juans but also many here, as the prices are usually half or less, and they can use the difference to improve retirement lifestyle ..... there was one road in the BC GIs where nine of ten properties were either famous rock/folk musicians or Boeing engineers, they used to form factions at the pub and joke about it ..... so if aerospace is slacking off, folks will be selling out over time, getting their golden parachutes, and relocating ... this likely applies to tech personnel overall, recently, maybe less so as many of them are younger ... still, you can run an online occupation or business from anywhere with broadband, nowadays
Everybody needs a place to live, this is one thing with residential real estate .... we can't all cash up at the peak, move assets to gold shares or whatever ... it's the flow that counts, in any given area, the few nickels at the margin that form increase or decrease in property transactions |
