SADDAM HUSSEIN: There seems to be a body of opinion from all parts of the world, (and lots of backing evidence that seems credible) that Hussein was/is a brutal dictator who stopped at nothing to gain power and stay in power.

I have no personal knowledge about the matter, but I have no reason to think otherwise.

There seems also to be a solid body of evidence that this country profoundly assisted his rise to power and tacitly ACCEPTED his activities when it suited our national interests to do so, just as now it "suits" our national interests to take him down.

I oppose war as a means of achieving peace because it NEVER works, it just sets up the circumstances for the next war.
AND for the reason that it inflicts enormous injury and damage on innocent adults, children and whole societies.

I also oppose war as a means of getting rid of brutal dictators, because there always are other means and such beings also usually self-destruct, over time.

It has been convenient for the US to have a beast of a being such as Saddam Hussein at the helm in Iraq because it provides a handy vehicle to demonize and a potential justification for our actions, which have at their root QUITE DIFFERENT aims and goals.

I am not sure if that answers your question, but that is my opinion.

Namaste!

Jim
