I don't know anyone who relishes the thought of war although there are undoubtedly some. In fact it is those that continue to oppress and inflict themselves on the lives of others that makes war a necessary evil. The reason the war in Iraq was necessary is the evil perpetrated by Saddam. Unless you want to argue that no defense of the innocent is valid under any circumstance, then there will always be justification for war. The problem with that position is that evil won't play by the same rules and so you basically let evil win. I thought the article you posted was hopelessly naive and self refuting.
