After the Bell-Whole Foods plunges on lower outlook

NEW YORK, May 7 (Reuters) - Shares of Whole Foods Market Inc.(NasdaqNM:WFMI - News) sank after Wednesday's closing bell, after it reported earnings in line with Wall Street estimates, but forecast earnings per share and sales growth would be at the low end of its earlier forecasts.

Whole Foods shares sank to $52.40 in after-hours trade, down from their Nasdaq close of $60.60. In a statement after the close, the natural foods retailer also said that sales in stores open for more than one year would be at the low end of its target in the second half of this year.

Shares of Electronic Data Systems Corp. (NYSE:EDS - News) rose to $18.20 in active trade after the bell from their New York Stock Exchange (News - Websites) close at $17.64, after the computer services supplier posted a first-quarter loss after charges. Among decliners, Pixar Animation Studios Inc.'s(NasdaqNM:PIXR - News) stock fell to $59.20 after it posted a drop in first-quarter profits, after the regular session ended, from its Nasdaq close of $59.41.
