The Controller--Karl Rove's plan to take over politics

By Nicholas Lemann

I just read the article at Borders. Outstanding. Lemann did his homework. It is not a "Hagiography," Lemann is on the other side of the fence, and went to sources that date back to the 60s to get all the info on Rove that he could. But Rove comes off as a driven practitioner of Politics who is simply better at it than anyone else in the country. If you care about the subject, get ahold of this week's "New Yorker."

Couple of nuggets:

1) The reason the 2000 election was so close was that the Dems did a great job of "Get out the Vote," grassroots campaigning.

2) The strategy in the Senate Court fights is to let the Dems exhaust themselves fighting a couple of the choices they hate, while six other Republican Judges, on the average, get approved every month.

Too sum up, Lemann went looking for dirt, but could not lay a glove on Rove. In the process, he found a guy who is really good at what he does.
