Our major defeat, UW. The era of attack Helicopters is over, IMO. Just too easy to shoot down. Now that the Air Force is finally willing and able to do CAS, the A-10 can take over.

You gotta be kidding. I would hardly call 30 helicopters taking a few small arms hits a major defeat.

I agree the A-10 is an outstanding weapons platform. But it is only one part of the very complex US integrated order of battle. The A-10 can enhance the battlefield effects of the Apache and vice versa, but it cannot replace the attack helicopters.

The low and relatively slow attack helicopter platform does have vulnerabilities (so do low and slow infantrymen). Those very same features give the Apache capabilities that current fast movers will never have.
