you sure about that? on a "deaths-per-mile" basis that's certainly true, but i saw a stat showing that on a "deaths-per-trip" basis driving was safer than flying. i'll have to dig it up, who knows what assumptions/formulations went into that number.

from personal experience, i've definetely lost more close people to aircraft than to cars. but then i had two pilots in the family, so maybe i'm not representative. and neither comes close to the impact of 1. age 2. disease/viruses 3. drugs.

what a thoroughly depressing topic for the morning.
