Lyle, the press in those days had oodles more class and decorum than does today's press. To report JFKs affairs in family newspapers was strictly a taboo. Also, his back injuries would, I think, call into question the veracity of these alleged many and frequent affairs.
Divorce definitely was a consideration prior to JFKs runs for public office. Rumor--and I emphasize rumor here--has it that Pappa Joe Kennedy paid Jackie not to divorce JFK and ruin his chances for election. There also is evidence that JFK had been married briefly to a Danish woman prior to his marriage to Jackie. This Danish woman was said to have been a spy.
Also, few people of that day knew that JFK suffered from Addison's disease. It was never reported in the mainstream press of the day. The deep, healthy tan we saw on our black-and-white TVs was the result of massive doses of steroids, the accepted treatment for Addison's disease in those days. With the medical technology of the day, it is doubtful that JFK would have lived out a normal lifespan with his Addison's disease. Had the American voters known of his illness and its ramifications, he would never have been elected at all!
The fact that JFK WAS assassinated about a year prior to the next presidential election speaks for itself. A lot of entities wanted him out of the way. Don't overlook the Vietnam connection. There had just been an overthrow of that government. Madame Gnu, then in exile, was very vocal in her feelings that JFK had let her country down. Shortly after the assassination, she made the statement, "It was God's will." This seems to be lost in the rivulets of ink that have been dribbled onto the conspiracy pages.
I'm not saying there definitely is a Vietnamese connection, but I think it possible.
