Do I wish it? Of course not. Do I think it is as bad as it used to be, no way.

North Korea is starving. IF they had SK, they would want to use it to improve their lives. SK people would not go around worshipping the Great Leader. The interaction, even on a purely cultural and economical level, would bring down the regime within a decade.

Now when you talk about SK being a major trading partner, I hear you. I think that is a point worthy of consideration. And I don't really see why we could not continue to trade with the combined entity (aside from its possible destruction that is, but that would have to be part of the calculation). But when you say something like:

The takeover cannot be allowed because S Korea is democratic.

Then I begin to question your objectivity. Whatever makes you think America is the global defender of democracy? What democracy did we go to defend in the first gulf war? And if per chance Canada invaded Iceland do you think we'd go bombing them to kick them out?
