Japan's Shiokawa says yen too high

5/8/2003 8:07:18 PM

TOKYO, May 9 (Reuters) - Japanese Finance Minister Masajuro Shiokawa said on Friday he thought the yen has strengthened too much but declined to comment on whether Japan had intervened in the market. "It is a very subtle subject and I cannot say anything about it," Shiokawa told reporters in response to a question on whether Japan had intervened to sell the yen.

"But we are not without interest."
