OT ~ It was actually in a Sivananda Yoga course that I did the head stand. Actually, all we do in that course seems to be sun salutations, head stands, and plough & shoulder stands.

I could get up, I just didn't have the balance to hold the posture.

My arms are not really strong enough, so it is the getting up that is not so easy for me. But balance, I do fine - palm tree, balancing postures on toes or on one leg, etc. I just need to build up the strength, especially in my arms. Realized this when I did crocodile for the first time and fell flat on my face :-)

Lots of yoga is good, straining too much is baaaaaad

As in your legs shaking like a leaf? Thinking you will just fall over on your face and die? Yes, I think I "strain" from time to time :-)
