John's interpretation that an invitation to coffee and a quote about spitting constitute threats is ridiculous.

I wondered if you would bring me into the conversation, Mike. However, I assumed it would happen.

I don't speak, obviously, for FL; only for myself so the following is simply my take.

As I typed on FADG, I thought FL did the right thing. I read those two posts as physically threatening a poster. They fit within one of your two thread personas, the one in which posting is about masculinity and verbal confrontations. The other one, the one I like and admire, is the one that has a sense of humour about it all, including himself. I regret that one doesn't show up more often.

One more thing about the first persona. It's not only that posters feel threatened and leave threads and that others decide not to post, but once you do that, threaten, the threatened poster may respond in kind, as marcos did, which then encourages spiraling threats in that conversation and, worse still, emulation by other posters.

So I think FL did the right thing to signal enough already.

As for your comment that FADG tilts left too much, that was the uw with a sense of ironic humor. You might wish to check the thread count sometime as between posters who think of themselves as righties and those who don't. You might get one of your chuckles from it.
