Well I wouldn'y worry too much about US interests in our oil. Our gas reserves and oil sands maybe, but even the oil sands will now hold less interest for the americans as they have ensured security of supply from the middle east. Its gonna be fun watching all those western oilmen so willing to hop on the US war bandwagon, crap their pants as oil drops to US$15-20 a bbl (probally closer to $15), once Iraq comes on strong with 6-9 million bbls a day production. Russia is set to ramp up production in a big way as well.
