It is despicable that the museum was looted. As this is the so-called, "Stop the War" thread, do you feel that the US was responsible or, as some have posted, intentionally did or caused the looting?

It's easy to be critical. From the big picture, the war was extremely efficient. Tactical gains were made with minimal manpower and very limited losses. The losses are historically low for an operation of this size. There is really nothing to which it can be compared in history. Whether one agrees with the war and its rationale or not, the operation was a huge tactical and planning victory. Even the Iraqi military losses were extremely low.

Given the success of the military operation, one really has to stretch to find an area to criticize. Looting was despicable as I posted at the beginning of this post. The fact that basic services were not restored as quickly as I might have wished is also unfortunate. However, given the resources, I would prefer an operation which spared human losses over one which concentrated on sparing property damage likely caused by professionals associated with Saddam or even the employees of the museum itself.

From what I've read, it looks like the US has dedicated resources to stopping the traffic of artifacts at the Syrian border and has assigned agents to stop this on EBAY among with other potential places through which this treasure may be disposed.
