do you feel that the US was responsible or, as some have posted, intentionally did or caused the looting?
No, not at all.
My only remark re museum lootings was: (1) That museum management asked for help from American army and were refused, shortly before the lootings took place. Maybe they could have sent ten armed men to protect those treasures... (2) Meanwhile, they protected the oil ministry. In fact, that is the only building they protected. That is a clear indication of where US interests lie, imho.
It's easy to be critical
You are right. Bush administration provided such a target-rich environment that not only is it easy to criticize them, the difficult part is to know where to start...
has assigned agents to stop this on EBAY
Oh PLEASE! :-)
Like, the Code of Hammurabi will be sold on Ebay :-)
Smugglers of architectural treasures have their own underground system of finding buyers. It is not through internet auctions, I assure you. Actually, I cannot think of anything more stupid than trying to sell a stolen architectural treasure on Ebay, opening the bid at a million dollars... |
