He and Fidel would make a fine team eh, feared of discussion with vigour .... poofters the lot of em, lol ... what are we going to do about Cuba, uw? .... you will have noticed that there are no cubanos here with us, and you'll know it's not because they wouldn't enjoy poking at the various animals in the political zoo as much as we do ... it's because their longwinded old dictator of near half a century won't let them come .... something got to be done about that, it's not right

Like the great majority in these Americas i feel strongly that the US is in no position to actively do anything about Cuba at all ... it's just too powerful, hands Castro a David role in a resistance against Goliath ... and too much historical baggage as well, all the O'Sullivans and Hearsts and Platts going back to the beginning

Time for the Mark Twains to set US policy, maybe, and have their nation simply stop all aggressive action and do nothing whatsoever - vacate Guantánamo, drop the embargo and all restriction on US citizens in re travel and trade etc, repeal the dry-foot law, stop funding any parties interfering in cubana politics ... simply stop doing anything in regards to Cuba beyond cordial diplomatic relations, just give a giant shrug and a smile and go do something else

This will rob Castro of every last inch of his high moral ground ... he can hardly pretend to be defending against aggression when the descendants of the aggressor aren't even paying attention .... sure he can lie for a while, and he will of course, but that's where we come in -

We should invade Cuba .... 'we' meaning the normal people of these Americas, not any nation-states or any of that old horseshit .... and we shouldn't call it invasion, that would be impolitic ... can't call it 'outreach' either, that's been tainted by recent state-action use .... how about we call it 'vacation' -g- ..... basically, we just go to the island and enjoy the companionship of cubanos, not as tourists but as travellers, as friends and neighbours visiting .... and we stay as much as possible out of the gringolandias Castro sets up on the beaches, too artificial .... we go down the coast from them, or inland, all over the place, then we need to check stock quotes or take another poke at FaultLine, so we need an internet connection .... real internet, this one, not something Castro has walled off .... open up the internet to a people, and they will gain free speech

In a way it might be better if US admin left its current deluded policy in place, because then we normal people could be defying both sets of extremists, quite evenhandedly .... maybe make a religion out of it - in addition to the tax benefits we could print millions of copies of, say, our Little Green Book, with perhaps in it as scripture the text to Thoreau's Resistencia al Gobierno Civil ..... maybe a New Testament part as well, pieces by the Twains and de Sotos ... what do you think, would you like to reserve a pew on the boat? -g-
