The US did not just protect the oil ministry. If you take off the bias glasses, you would see that the US was hard at work protecting the population, watching out for those heavily advertised "suicide bombers," fedayeen, republican guards and other nasties that Saddam had hidden.
I'd like to see what you would have done in those circumstances. Pardon me for not having a "hissy fit" over the artifacts. I've agree that it was a tragedy. Yet you refuse to acknowledge anything good about the US or the war. Yet you claim not to be biassed.
I'd suggest you get back to Economics 101 if you think the US can just print money and would not care about billions of dollars looted by Saddam and co.
Calling this an unnecssary war is just plain wrong. Saddam had to go. The tyranny that killed, tortured, and raped perhaps millions had to go. Was WW II unnecessary? If we had the moral fiber to do in the late 1930's what we are doing now, perhaps millions would be spared. Perhaps the French would not have suffered the indignities they suffered.
As far as the museum goes, it clearly looks like the most important pieces were "stored" or "looted", depending on your take, well before the US came to Baghdad. You, of course, know differently and wish to find something, anything upon which to dwell. |
