I was thinking about your situation, since you are an MD. Have you considered laying in a supply of Tyvek suits? There are some which have hoods and boots all-in-one. If I had to perform a procedure on a suspect patient that involved exposure to mucus or bodily fluids, I'd use the barrier type suit, N95 mask, gloves, and eye protection.

If SARS gets worse here in the US I intend to buy suits - I have masks, gloves, and I suppose a swimming mask would work. They're tight enough to keep out water.

You can buy a case of the disposable suits for not much on the Internet.
