Perle: United States Does Not Have An Intention To Launch A Military Action Against Syria

Anadolu Agency: 5/9/2003

ISTANBUL - Richard Perle, former U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense and strategist, said on Friday that the United States did not have an intention like military action against Syria.

Perle attended first session of the ''Forum Istanbul Conference'' organized by the Finance World in Istanbul.

When one of the audience asked him what France's attitude could be if the United States decided to launch a military action against Syria, Richard Perle said, ''we don't intend to launch a military action against Syria. We don't have such a plan as long as Syria gives up its policy to support terrorist organizations. However, Mr. President understands and knows how this problem upsets the United States and how terrifying the extension of support to terrorist organizations is. There are examples like Afghanistan and Iraq. As for France, you can't know what they can do tomorrow.''
