<Surviving for 24 hours on a surface >

Peter, how long do bugs like Sars survive if they are in a hot, dry room?

Come next winter, dehumidifiers and hot element fan heaters might strip moisture droplets from the air quickly and dry out and kill Sars on surfaces and kill them as they are blown through the heating element. In winter, air falls below the dew point for long periods of time [which is why fungi and moulds do well during winter and in dark and damp conditions].

That's not much use where there's no electricity and conditions are crowded and so on.
