What makes Google superior to all other search engines is the cache feature. If you click on the cached page, the search terms you used are highlighted in color, so you don't have to actually read the page, just scroll down until you see the colors pop out.
I read very fast so I can tell in a second or two whether what I see is what I want. If not, on to the next.
Yesterday the cache feature wasn't working and I almost had a cow. Actually reading a web page to see if it's what you want is SOOOOO 20th century!
I used to use Copernicus, and I think it's great, but it's clunky and slow compared to google. But then, I am also willing to look at 100 hits or more in order to find what I want. Copernicus gives anyone, including newbies, good results. Google, and good search techniques, gives me, the Research Queen, great results.
My search technique is dogged, anal-retentive and involves a lot of teeth-gritting and picking up a LOT of rocks to see what's underneath. Google makes this a breeze. Thank you, Google! |
