Re: "Follow the Money..."

Been there, done that:

NEXTWAVE
GLOBALSTAR
LEAP WIRELESS

Much more money invested in these "surviving" companies than the few you hot linked (not to mention the thousands that literally folded up). In all cases, best advise would have been quite the opposite of what you suggest. These were good ideas with solid business plans, so good and so solid, in fact, that they will all survive their bankruptcies!

Wi-Fi as a carriers strategy has a lot less money (not to follow) and a lot less business foundation (still trying to understand it) than these companies did.

But please, don't misunderstand me. I love Wi-Fi, and use it every day, and hope never to be without it. It's just the concept of offering it everywhere for my use, is a lot like offering me to be able to carry my cordless phone with me and allowing access at certain locations. I just don't see the need, when I have a cell phone, and I just don't see the need for Wi-Fi service providers when I have 1XRTT, and shortly 1XEV-DO (which incidentally, will allow me access to the Internet at more than double the speed of my current 6 Wi-Fi set ups!)
