History on Religion: Jefferson's Bible

I had a friend who watched a person give a talk of Thomas Jefferson (forgot the term of theater/lecture it was called because that person acted like and dressed as President Jefferson). He told me the most revealing thing he learned was that Mr.Jefferson, having read 8-12 hours a day since he a young'in and quite the educated idealist, set out to fathom the bible with his own logic and clarify the work, cutting out superfluous or unsubstantial text. He did. The bible I believe re-written in Latin or Greek (Mr.Jefferson was fluent in both) became 44 pages long.
There are links to that (couple here)

He figured only a few of the gospels were real......
(he didn't let that come out when he was President)
He strongly believed in separation of Church and State and
was credited for being the author of the Constitution even though he didn't sign it. I found that interesting.......

When I see him, I'll get the VCR tape he bought of the show (he said it was taped) and see if it is online.
