You are ALSO falling into a trap that is older than you. Remember all those "open minded" American fools in the 60's and 70's who took "guided tours" in the Soviet Union and returned home talking about how wonderful and prosperous the Soviet world was? (Incredibly boring bunch, but I met many.) THEY, TOO, talked all about education and health care.
