I think Time probably sells more magazines by conveying the message that SARS can kill Caucasian and other races as well as Asians. As a Caucasian, married to a Caucasian, with everybody in my family Caucasian and pretty much everybody I know Caucasian, I'd much rather SARS didn't kill Caucasians. I don't want it to kill anyone, of course, but if it does, better someone else than me and mine. Sorry, but it's true.

People are posting on this board (including me) that we are jumpy around Asians and that Chinese restaurants are losing customers and so forth. Why make it worse?

The Economist handled it better, I thought, they had a photo of Mao wearing a mask.

I don't know why they don't just use news photos. A photo of a street or hospital in China with everybody wearing masks would tell the story better than a model of whatever race or color or sex.
