Your bolding some part of the sentence ain't changing the fact that "leaving perhaps only a few dozen key pieces missing" is the estimation of some US government officials in Washington.

The same guys who "estimated" that some thirty artifacts were missing in all before the thousands were recovered.

Believe them if you can forgive just how wrong they were the first time around. I don't. End of story.
