Perhaps you are right, but I would be amazed if the US government would want the buck to have plunged this far. As the buck falls, it tends to smack foreign holders of US assets very hard, and the US needs those folk to hold on to this stuff. At some point (perhaps already?) a continuously falling buck could/will trigger a mass exodus from US assets.

Personally, I think it is an unmitigated disaster for the US, and one that will spread very near term to the stock market. Time will tell.
