Hi Joan,

We do seem to be talking past each other.

You describe the pitfalls to the individual/family farm unit in the upper Midwest in the U.S.

And I'm looking at a much grander scale, the realm of "globalization" and its discontents.

You're micro, I'm macro. Though both are relative terms.

It was fascinating to me, after a couple of decades in business for myself to go back to seek an MBA degree. I thought I knew how to read a balance sheet and a ledger. And I did for my own business. What I learned in my coursework was the balance sheet and the operations of the discount window at the FRB(NY).

There is no comparison between the two realms.

You're discussing individual entrepreneurial effort and constraints. I'm trying to discuss systemic dislocations and their policy causes.

FWIW, here's my resources on Globalization and Its Discontents:

The following are some of the more acclaimed books and critical websites on the subject of globalization and its real meaning for the planet. My conclusion? Globalization is going to be real mean.
