But you are always extrapolating from some sort of past experience, ie. making assumptions based on observations of some other industry that is similar to the one you are looking at and trying to project a similar growth path. Projections of the future are so frequently wrong because they are always based on the past. You are stuck looking at the past while the future sneaks in on little cat feet.
