Hi X,
Yesterday, for M-day, we went to see "Chicago" and what a treat.. One of my all time top ten movies, (based upon my initial reaction :) ) the music, dancing, uplifting subtle sexuality all added up to winner.. I can't understand why Rene and Richard Gere never won the Academy Award for their performance (but now we think why) <gg>.. And, of course, that segues into my next comment, which is why:
We couldn't seem to rent "Bowling for Columbine" at our local Hollywood or Blockbuster after we learned it was supposed to be released to home video... BUT NOW, We found out yesterday at our BB.. It was withheld by the distributors, to rental video, AFTER Michael Moore's comments at the AA ceremony.. "A lot of people are asking to rent it", he said..
So do we have "freedom of speech" or not ? Or ARE we reverting back to DARK AGES of HOLLYWOOD BLACK LISTS?
"McCarthyism"
BTW, I will suggest, ENCOURAGE, ALL concerned people, actually ALL PEOPLE, to BE AWARE of little things like this that CURTAIL their civil liberties.. AND
REMEMBER THEM.. |
