Edscharp:

The issue here is US being the world's policeman. I call it that, you call it US is the world's peacemaker. THat is the difference.

Your past posts have insinuated that US is positioned to be the world's peacemaker because of recent events. I am saying that the recent past events as well as unfolding events indicate beyond doubt that this Administration does not fully grasp world politics. I have said that the world is complicated beyonf viewing it as "black and white". The world is too complicated and is beyond taking sides as in the case of US siding with Israel and then pretending to be a neutral mediator. What peace making are you talking about.

You asked about who would be an honest broker. I would say that the UK is better suited to be a honest broker, or better still let the European countries be encouraged to do that.

If you have any doubts if Europe will succeed or not just look at France and Germany. They worked with Iraq and ensured that they did not have any weapons of mass destruction with spilling a single drop of French or German blood. US on the other hand came across like a teen age kid, a gun totting rambo, blasting their way into Iraq and finding nothing. HOw can you still keep saying that US can be a peacemaker. In the last 2 years where has US been successful in the world arena? I can hear you saying that the US has won the war against terrorism. IS it? Then why did we have the bombing in Saudi Arabia. Again a US failure. We kept pointing to Saudi Arabia as being in cohorts with the Al-Qaida. The bombing did not look like the act of someone who is in cohort with the Saudi Arabian Govt.

I hope you chew over this for sometime and convince yourself that this Adminstration has failed and should not be thinking of being a peacemaker.
