But we do have a system in which the major media companies have strong incentives to present the news in a way that pleases the party in power, and no incentive not to.


John, the BBC is not "Critical" of the USA's policies. It is totally against them. In every shape and form. People who like that point of view follow BBC.

You and I grew up with the three Networks. You thought their viewpoint was middle of the road. I thought it was to the left. With the advent of cable, we now have a variety of viewpoints available. You think the new POVs are all "right wing," you don't like that, and you run off to watch BBC.

Krugman has the same problem, and blames the Networks for kowtowing to the Admin. What is happening is that the rise in ratings of the Cable news shows is forcing the Networks to evaluate their coverage. They had to show some Patriotism during the Iraq liberation, or lose all their viewers.

This is not an attempt to please the Bushies. It is an attempt to please their viewers.
