He said a lot more than that. He said Shevardnadze has stated his people are helping Iran make the bomb. This is a lot more than saying they are scientists in Iran.

> The Cleric he mentioned has said that Iran should Nuke Israel with the first one they made.

Rafsanjani is the most pragmatic leader in Iran. Prior to Khatami, he was actually seen as the reformer. Now he is a henchman. Such things are relative of course. Rafsanjani is also the one who actually a few weeks ago took heat for suggesting formal ties with US must resume. (what he said was that Iran should put the question to a referendum, but it is obvious the referendum would win). So I don't think he is every likely to wage war against Israel, no matter what he has said in the past. Not to mention that Rafsanjani is in no position to push for such a thing even if he wanted to. He is out of the office and cannot run again.

> If you want to think he is a liar, that's your privilege.

I have no personal agenda against him. But how do you evaluate the statement he attributed to Shevardnadze? Does it sound reasonable to you that a head of state will give a press conference and say he is helping Iran build nuclear bombs?

> what Ledeen writes, Bush reads.

This is what worries me.
