Expensing options will destroy Intel, and Barrett and Bryant would scurry.

Come on, you are being overly dramatic imo. Why would expensing options destroy Intel? Expensing options doesn't wipe out Intel's profits or anything. Intel has had many years where their reported profits would have been quite respectable even if stock options had been expensed on the income statements. In fact, I think Silicon Valley businesses with solid, underlying core businesses like Intel has, have the most to gain from expensing stock options. They will look good compared to the fluff companies like SEBL and NTAP.

By the way, Apple shareholders voted to expense stock options on April 25th. AAPL closed at $13.35 on April 25th. AAPL closed at $18.67 today, a 40% rise in twelve trading days. The vote to expense stock options doesn't appear to be impacting AAPL's share price in a negative manner. In the third quarter of 2002, AMZN decided to switch from employee stock options to restricted stock as their favored form of employee equity compensation. Restricted stock grants are expensed on the income statements. Since that time, AMZN stock price has been one of the top performers in the entire market. I guess this is another case where reporting all the expenses doesn't seem to be holding the company stock price back. (This does not mean that I endorse an investment in AAPL or AMZN).
