I contend that there were always Jews living in the area. There were fewer Jews than Arabs for most of the history. So, there is a dispute when you make statements like "started coming in."
My 1940 edition of the Encyclopaedia Brittanica says that there were about 800K people in Palestine, 60K Jews, in 1920. Now, there are about 10M Arabs and Jews in Palestine and 4M Pal refugees (some in Palestine). So, since Jews have come in large numbers to Palestine, the Arab population has increased dramatically, also. I say this to counter your "push him to the side to make room" statement. Obviously, there is plenty of room for both. Also, if you do a little investigation, you will learn that the Arabs retained the lands that were most desirable, historically.
This brings the discussion to the basic problem as I see it. The Arabs have always been unwilling to share. They have always tried violence to drive the Jews out. They have a long losing streak dating from 1948. Before 1948, they had victories as they were able to influence the British to deny entry to Jews and many of the Jews perished at the hands of the Nazis. They don't care much about the effects of their violence on their own people.
I, long ago, lost sympathy for the plight of the "guy" whose suffering is promoted by his own leaders and used as a weapon to gain world support for a group whose objective is the destruction and annihilation of the other side. When I see thousands of murdered Shiites unearthed in Iraq, I see the fate of Israelis if Arabs gain the upper hand. |
