This is a complete disgrace, makes me sad that this is the country that I love, would fight and even die for. We are supposed to be a free people, yet over two million people are in jail. Eric Schlosser just released a book called 'Reefer Madness: Sex, Drugs, and Cheap Labor in the American Black Market' I haven't read it yet but I know that it raises some interesting points. According to a recent USA article by Fran Smith quoting Schlosser "Black markets will always be with us--But they will recede in importance when our public morality is consistent with our private one" I agree. I think more people need to be concerned about this, not just pot smoking hippies. Personally am a libertarian--so this crap bothers me at a philosophical level. It just seems so ineffcient, we have enough things to deal with already now we have to house, feed, and contain over a million people who are NON-PERPERTRATORS while we let true murderers go free because our prisons are at 136% CAPACITY! Instead of cutting our community resources why not cut down on this fascism, it'll save us money.
