There is a wonderful book by Steven Ambrose, called, I believe, "Wild Blue Yonder". It's generally about the ?8th AF, but is really a profile of George and his crew. He pulled off several miraculous landings, saving his crew several times. Received ?Distinguished Flying Cross for all that; one of many heroes of WWII. I'm proud that I worked for, and voted for, the man.
