Steve ...
>>>>In fact, I've never opened a PC before
by golly there was a time when I said that ... of course, twas a verrrrrrrry long time ago.... <gggg> but, there is NO sin in your position and NO glory in mine ...
as far as I'm concerned, that is why this thread is a dandy ...
hell ... I bot my first box twentyplus years ago, and have bot a bunch since then and have built a bunch more ....
I STILL learn every time and every day ... matter of fact, I'm posting a question over on the QCharts thread when I send this one that exposes my ignorance, once MORE ... heh heh heh heh ..
I don't own DELL I make nothing from Dell but, (and other box makers could well provided this service, too) I reccoed a Dell to a friend of mine and reccoed he purchase these two services from Dell to go with his new machine. and I've copied this from the Dell website -------------------------------------------
Why do you need PC Home Installation1? Make life easy for yourself! Let a technician set up your new Dell Home system. You can get up to 2 peripherals, Internet connection and e-mail, and the technician will even walk you through an overview of your system. Easy as Dell!
Why Data Migration1? Salvage your info! If you choose Data Migration1, after your system in set up during the installation visit, the technician will transfer up to 1GB or data files and preferences from your old PC to your new one. What a convenient way to get the important information from your old PC so you can start enjoying your new one!
----------------------------------------
My reason for having him pay for this was two fold ... a) he has NO knowledge of computers b) I do
selfishly, I did NOT want to assume the burden of training him.....
now, he is happy, and I'm happy and we're still friends ....<ggggg>
you might think of searching the Dell site and pricing a new box from them and getting the Home Install and Data Migration ...
and, I'm not casting stones at Zardoc .... I know the feeling all too well of attempting to teach via the internet ..... frustration is part and parcel of the process, unfortunately ....
good luck with what you're trying to do and everyone here is/was a novice ... just at different times
