There is some basis, but not a comprehensive basis. For example, my congressman, Barney Frank, publicly advocates taking wealth from earners and distributing it to non-earners. He probably privately believes in state control of industry as well. So calling him a Marxist is not completely off base.

OTOH, when CK called ME a Marxist/Leninist when I objected to his personal attack on E, he showed his lack of ability to blend political and personal behavior.
