Re; Poster anonymity; Not completely off topic.

No, no criminal past here, no more skeletons in the closet than the average bozo in the street, nor am I an insider in any publically-traded company or a relative (to my knowledge) of an insider of such a company, much less one with a thread on SI. No, that's not it.

Trust is a two-way street, and is built on a foundation of experience, of reading what other posters have to say, and judging their character and motives by their past post history. Someone posting under their (apparently) real name and providing an email address gives them no more credibility in my judgement than someone posting as konanthebarbarian@hotmail.heaven.com. What they say, the quality of information or commentary they provide, that's what's important, imho.

I have emailed a number of SIers who have inspired trust, Tomato to give one example. Check out his post last night on the William thread regarding his experience with listing his email address. It seems like those who comment on controversial issues here attract a wide range of responses, not all of them sane. You I trust, John, I lurk your Gold Price Monitor thread, if for any reason you would like me to email you, I would do so in a minute. But to the world at large, no thanks.

Anyway, my real name (Freiherr Horst A. Gnibblenoatz XVII) is too long to type when logging in.

As an individual investor with a tendency to make sharp comments on company practices and use of the internet, I appreciate the privilege of being able to restrict communication to this public forum. When companies post here, though, they should tell us plainly who they are, imho. Any position in or involvement with management should be laid right out on top of the table, we all have much to gain if they do that, and much to lose if they don't.

The purpose of this thread is to encourage company posting to SI, and to discuss appropriate guidelines for that posting. Anybody have more management posters? Comments? How about making up a set of guidelines for an IR department considering a presence here?

Hasta la pr¢xima....marcos/Auf wiedersehen....Horst...<g>..
