About pre-earnings put options: the premium for both puts and calls can go sky high as earnings near, in anticipation of a dramatic post-earnings move. So if the stock only moves a couple of points then typically most puts and calls go down the day after earnings! This occurred most recently with GTW. I bought GTW puts at a discount the day after earnings, even though the stock had gone down.

Regarding CPQ, it too has gone up far too much and far too fast. Eventually uncertainty over margins, market share, and valuation will send CPQ tumbling as well. IMHO.
