< For you and possibly most Americans, CNN is a reliable source of information, whereas for the rest of the world (especially in the past few years), its coverage is rather biased and reflects only the official US state position.>
In fact, I don't find CNN to be that reliable a source of news; but videotapes, generally don't lie.
Incidentally, while some of CNN's coverage might be biased, (I consider it to have a liberal bent) I doubt if you could find many Americans who would agree that it reflects only the "official US state position". I think Fox news would come closer to that description, at least in these times of a Republican administration.
However, since CNN is the American news channel seen most by the rest of the world, and since perception is reality for many of them, they may well see it, incorrectly, as the "official" voice of the US.
<your criticism to the Independent article was mostly voiced before you read the whole article. >
Having read the whole article, my opinion remains the same...it was a poor job of describing what happened there, based upon the CNN tape.
Now if YOU don't mind, perhaps we can drop this matter by agreeing to disagree. Had I known that this would turn into a near two-week defense of what I saw, I doubt if I would have bothered to mention it. I am a retired person, into the 11th year of remodeling my home from the skeleton on up, also involved in other aspects of woodworking, do some investing in the stock market, and am off for a week of fishing in Northern Wisconsin tomorrow morning, so I do have a few other items on my plate. |
