"IT" is "Information TECHNOLOGY"

Many big companies like HPQ and IBM are counting on replacing more expensive IT with cheaper IT so they can reduce costs for the companies and pocket some of the difference along with selling Wintel servers to replace pig-iron type mainframes.

Maybe you've not seen a bill a GM might have to sign that breaks out support costs per PC to keep all the engineers through office assistants up to date with current versions of Word, Excel, etc. so they can communicate via company email? I seem to recall this support cost exceeds the hardware cost so if you can buy hardware with software loaded that lowers support costs, it does the exact same thing but helps the bottom line... big bucks in this for some of us that own stocks that should profit from it. :)
