The Classic interface not only will survive this change, it'll survive the eventual merging of the sites. iHub will gain an interface mimicking both interfaces here (and the oldest one if I can find it) and SI will gain an iHub-like interface. By the time the merging happens, they'll really be two identical sets of software with only the URLs being different.

That's why such a move is so far down the road. SI's interface will be a complete rewrite from scratch, both sites will gain features from each other, and the current featureset will be dramatically expanded. As good as I think iHub's platform is right now, it's really not all that close to what I envision it being.
