German retailer picks NCR

dayton.bizjournals.com

NCR Corp. said Wednesday it will supply retail systems to Metro Group, a consumer goods retailer in Germany.

Dayton-based NCR will install its FastLane self-checkout system, allowing customers to scan, bag and pay for their own purchases, and electronic shelf labels at Metro Group's Extra Future Store in Rheinberg, Germany.

The Extra Future Store is a concept store, where Metro and partners SAP and Intel, test and develop technologies and technical systems for the retail industry.

"The Extra Future Store is testing the technologies that will dominate the retail sector of the future," said Gerd Wolfram, Future Store project manager for Metro.

Metro is the first German retailer to adopt NCR's retail systems.
